Baby Katherine is here!

Jul 22 2008 - 10:36 PM

Baby Katherine is here! She was born Mon. July 21 at 5pm, 7lbs 14 oz and 19 inches long. My doctor will induce a week early if you want, and I said of course I want to! I went in at 6:30 am, and I think that was the first time I have been early to anything (I was even late to my own wedding), especially in the morning--I did not want to be pregnant anymore!! They started the pitocin to start contraction at about 7, and at noon I was only 4cm dialated (10cm is all the way). So the dr. broke my water at noon, and at 1pm I was 5cm and at about 2 or 2:30 I was 6cm. Then the baby's heart rate was going down a lot so I called in the nurse and she checked me and said "don't sneeze! I'm running to get the dr.!" The dr. came in and she was born 4 minutes later, at 4:55pm. The first thing I asked is if she's a girl. She didn't cry, she was still purple, and they were rubbing her pretty hard and saying, "come on-cry!" I was getting really worried. Then she started breathing, but still never cried! It's 28 hours later, and she still hasn't cried!! It was fun to try different dresses and bows on her. It's fun having a girl, but weird for us! The boys have been so cute. After her first bath they put her in the warmer but she was shivering and Alex said, "she needs a blanket, mom! get her a blanket!"  Nathan loves to hold her and is very captivated by her. They are great big brothers and so sweet to her. Todd is already calling her his princess and being protective of her. He didn't want her to sleep in her bassinet thingy because "she was lonely" so he just wanted to always hold her:). Everything has gone so smoothly. I feel great and barely tore. It's fun to have a baby in the house. When she wakes up, the boys are going to show her around the house.

We have pictures!

Todd put up some pictures of our Disneyland trip, and we'll put some more up later. We don't want to overload you:). Nothing is really going on. That's why I don't do a blog...nothing really new...

Feb. 2008

Feb 22 2008 - 12:39 PM

We're having a girl!!!!! We're so excited. Nathan wants to name the baby Nathan, but his second choices are Popcorn or Butterfly, since girls like butterflies. Alex wanted the baby to be named Thomas (as in the train) if it was a boy, but now Emily, because there is a train named Emily on Thomas, or the name Erika, because we babysit a girl named Erika that is practically part of the family. Todd loves the name Lanae, and we'd call her Lilly, and I love the name Katherine, and we can call her Kate, but both of our second choice is Faith. We needed to have twin girls so we could use both names:). We bought her a little pink flowery dress:) and Erika's mom gave us lots of cute hair bows, a dress and cute pink flowery pajamas. Todd said they were "adorable", which I never knew that he knew that word! It's so fun to know I'll have another girl in the house!

Christmas 2007

Dec 29 2007 - 2:51 PM

We had a good Christmas. We just spent the day at home with just our family for the first time. The boys loved their presents and have been playing with them non-stop. Santa didn't bring many toys, but he brought lots of games, activities and books. He also brought Underdog cartoons that they love. I've been feeling pretty crummy lately (pregnancy) but I felt pretty good for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We got lots of snow for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Rocket got a big rawhide bone for Christmas. We went to Jane's for Christmas Eve and the boys sang "Joy to the World" for everyone--very very cute.

The Polar Express...in real life!!

Dec 21 2007 - 11:12 PM

Tonight we went on the Polar Express (a present from Nana and Papa). We sang Christmas carols, Nathan danced with an elf, we drank hot chocolate and ate cookies, read the Polar Express book, and looked at animal tracks in the snow as the Polar Express raced northward to the North Pole! The conductor came and punched everyone's ticket and Nathan held on to his the whole time (until he got his bell) and couldn't even put it in his pocket. Some of the elves told jokes on the train on the microphone, and Nathan said he wanted to tell a joke. So I took him up front, he wasn't shy at all, and he made up his joke. "Why does the Polar Express start going?" Then he said  "Because it starts going." Then, we got to the North Pole. It was in the mountains, of course, with no other houses or anything, and we saw all the lights on the elves' houses and workshops, and Santa was by the train waving. Then the train stopped, and the engine of the train had to go past the coaches to the back of the train, to pull us back to the train station. We got to see the engine, one of Nathan's favorite parts of the night, and it was blowing its whistle. Then, Mrs. Claus came on the train and said hi to everyone. Then, Santa came on the train and gave every child a bell. (Nathan is now in bed sleeping with his bell.) Nathan said that his favorite parts were riding on the train, seeing Santa and getting a bell, and seeing the engine pass us. Alex said all of it were his favorite parts. They had a ball and will probably remember this for forever! Thanks Nana and Papa!

Big Week!

Nov 20 2007 - 1:17 PM

This week was a very busy week! Nathan got a bad burn, stitches in his toe, I had strep throat, Todd took a new job, and we found out that I'm pregnant! I'm due July 25. I will have 4 daycare kids, but with Todd's new salary increase, I can quit the daycare whenever I want. I don't plan to, the kids I have are great and Alex and Nathan love having their friends over all the time.
