Wormy Apples

- 6 Medium Apples
- 1/2 Cup Maple Syrup
- 1/3 Cup Water
- Dash Salt
- 1/4 Teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1 Teaspoon Lemon Juice
- 2 1-inch Strips Lemon Peel
- 2 Tablespoons Butter
- 6 To 12 Gummy Worms
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°. Core apples, being careful not to cut through bottom. Peel top 1/3 of apple. Stand apples in a baking pan.
Combine maple syrup, water, salt, cinnamon, lemon juice and lemon peel in small saucepan. Bring to a boil and pour mixture over apples. Cover loosely with foil.
Bake 30 minutes. Remove from oven. Add 1 teaspoon butter to the core of each apple. Baste apples with pan juices; cover and bake 15 minutes or until tender. Cool.
Cut 1 or 2 small holes from outside of apple through to the core and thread worms through holes.
