Almond Poppy Seed Bread

Preheat: 325°

  • 2 1/3 Cups Sugar
  • 1 1/2 Cups Oil
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 1/2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 1 1/2 Teaspoons Butter
  • 1 1/2 Teaspoons Almond Extract
  • 3 Cups Flour
  • 1 1/2 Teaspoons Salt
  • 1 1/2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Poppy Seeds
  • 1 1/2 Cups Milk
  • 1/4 Cup Orange Juice
  • 3/4 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Butter
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Almond Extract


Directions

Mix sugar and oil. Add eggs, vanilla, butter, and almond extract and mix. Add flour, salt, and baking powder, alternating with 1/2 c of milk. Mix. Add poppy seeds. Pour into two greased and floured bread pans. Bake at 325° for 1 hour or until done.

For sauce: Mix orange juice, sugar, and 1/2 t each vanilla, butter, and almond extract in a small saucepan. Heat and stir until sugar is dissolved. Baste glaze on loaves and let cool 1/2 hour.
